Jean-Marc and Patricia Pellissier have been owning and managing the hotel for over 20 years and consider that skiing and biking is part of their life balance. Driven by passion, this duo of hotelkeepers is always eager to satisfy the guests, gladly answering any questions, giving considerate advice and making sure that everyone leaves satisfied.

We cannot introduce the team without mentioning Grandma Denise, mother of Patricia and former owner and manager of the hotel, which she ran for more than 30 years with her late husband, Edouard Michellod. Being over 80 is not a problem for the doyenne of the house who always finds something to lighten the task of the owners: laundry or dishes washing, jams cooking or gardening; the octogenarian never seems to have run out of energy and her attendance at work and dedication are impressive.

Let us not forget about the children and godchildren of the family who can also frequently be spotted behind the bar or in the kitchen giving a helping hand. As a true family business, Jean-Marc and Patricia also rely on the marketing services of their daughter Nancy to ensure the promotion of the place. And, last but not least, a housekeeper completes this team.

HELISKI ADVENTURES

The Hotel & Spa La Vallée has its own helipad which enables the guests to discover and practice heliski. From December to May, if you are in good shape and able to ski in all snow conditions, just treat yourself with this unique experience. Heliskiing means a complete day out in the mountains, where you will be skiing uphill and downhill on fantastic runs. Share and enjoy those emotions with your friends or family.

N.B. The flying schedule and the days for helicopter skiing will be decided by the mountain guide. If the weather conditions don’t allow helicopter flights, you will only pay for the dinner, the accommodation and the breakfast in the hotel, the ski pass for the lifts, the mountain guide and the renting of the equipment (avalanche beacon and harness). A second helicopter flight per day is charged with CHF 300 per person.

Carbon offset for heliski The managers of the Hôtel & Spa La Vallée, being environmentally responsible and driven by their passion to sports, have always paid particular attention to nature conservation and mountains protection and are well aware of the global warming problem. In order to make tourism and heliski rhyme with respect for nature, the hotel decided to be part of a carbon offsetting formula for every Heliski Adventures. This is made possible by Good Planet, the Yann Arthus Bertrand Foundation, and its “Carbone Action” programme.

A single helicopter transportation uses around 50 litres of kerosene; the financial offset to that CO2 release is equivalent to CHF 5.-, a sum that the hotel decided to donate to the Foundation for every helicopter transportation. That money is used to fund projects focusing on 4 thematics: reforestation and forests preservation, sustainable agriculture, universal access to clean energy and sustainable waste management.

MOUNTAIN BIKE ADVENTURES

The Verbier and Val de Bagnes area represents a unique playground when it comes to mountain biking. Start from the Hotel, go and explore with your guide the many enduro trails of the valley or head towards the lifts in Le Châble as they provide access to Verbier bikepark and the many single trails. The Hotel minibus with its bike trailer is available to explore single trails inaccessible with lifts. Besides, a free and secured garage is available for the bikers as well as a repair and a cleaning-up place.

When the World Cup of ski mountaineering (January 2014) stopped in Verbier/Val de Bagnes and then, one year later, when the World championships (February 2015) were also organized in the valley, the French national team of ski mountaineering chose the Hôtel & Spa La Vallée to benefit from an optimal preparation for the competitive events. Jean-Marc, Patricia and their team did everything they could to ensure a stay under the best possible conditions: menus adapted to the athletes, privatization of the hotel and spa, room for skis preparation. Let us just mention the very good results of the team with many podiums, including the victories of Laetitia Roux and Matéo Jacquemont during the 2014 Vertical Race.

For more than 5 years, the insurance company has been trusting the Hotel to organize its annual seminar for its Executive committee. Each year, heliskiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing as well as cultural visits and wine tastings complete the work programme of the company. Satisfied with the facilities and services provided, they come back every year to Lourtier. The Hotel warmly thanks Charles Relecom for the trust he has been showing.

This French cycling team stayed in Lourtier in April 2013 in order to participate to the arrival stage of the Tour de Romandie. The professional cyclists and their team enjoyed all facilities, especially the 150 m2 spa, the massage and seminar rooms and the garage made available during their three-day stay.

In February 2013, the hotel welcomed the Finnish company Suunto for a business seminar for its international executives. This watches and technical instruments company found in the hotel a pleasant working environment as well as high-quality facilities. Between two working sessions, the executives were able to enjoy heliskiing days, thanks to the helipad located in the garden of the hotel, and delicious buffet meals.
